South Bend Antique Lure Gallery
In this old fishing lure gallery you will see examples made by South Bend Bait
Company. Certainly
one of Big 5 (Heddon, Shakespeare, Pflueger, South Bend Creek Chub) as I will
sometimes refer to them as. South Bend created a variety of lures for more than
a half a century and is probably more noted for their antique fishing
reels. You will see a myriad of lures that were
offered by South Bend in either standard or special order methods.
I will try to
notate extra information for each of the old fishing lures shown, and or the color
name, or series number shown as a visual
reference.

South Bend Plunk Oreno
Model 929, in a solid black finish with red eye shadow. This South bend vintage
lure is Circa late 1920's.

South Bend Tease Oreno
Model 940, Circa 1929, Rainbow Finish with glass eyes. Shown with the correct
South Bend Lure box. Lure is 4 1/8" in length. |

South Bend Pike Oreno
Model 975, First version with no eyes. Lure is 4 1/4" in length, and has a metal
diving lip fashioned to the front. Later models of this South Bend antique Lure
would have eyes.

South Bend Gulf Oreno
Model 983. This is one of my favorite South bend antique fishing lures, and is
Circa 1926. Lure is 3 1/2" in length, has glass eyes, and hand painted gill
marks.

South Bend 5 Hook Minnow in Box
Series #905. This lure is Circa mid 1920's, and is in a very popular yellow
spotted finish. The lure comes with the correct South Bend box. |

South Bend Underwater Minnow in
Box
Series #903, this lure is in the Old Perch finish. This 3 hook South bend
Underwater Minnow comes in the correct box marked 903 UW and is in one of the
harder boxes to come by, notice the bottom right stamping.
